With an enrollment of more than 7,000 students, Wallace State Community College (Wallace State) is one of the largest colleges in the Alabama Community College System. Students have a choice of more than 50 majors as they pursue degree, certificate and transfer opportunities.

Like many institutions, Wallace State maintains a lean financial aid staff that serves a variety of student needs. The college offers students excellent value through a low cost of attendance. However, in 2015, it realized the need to have additional third-party resources to maintain a comprehensive in-house default management program. The institution began experiencing increasing cohort default rates (CDRs), which reached 19.6 for the 2014 cohort, and opted to increase services for the following year.


Wallace State chose Student Connections because Borrower Connect offered a turnkey solution for contacting borrowers when and how they prefer to be reached. In addition to providing personalized counseling to borrowers, Student Connections provides administrators with real-time reporting that allows them to easily track results and view trends.
